Afrocentric, Innovative and creative Stories

African history, African characters, and African stories are really lacking in Western media. Even when any media shows African themes, most of it is a portrait of vulnerability and exploitation. Colonization, slavery, corruption, and savagery are the most common story concepts. The wealth of the African culture is never portrayed as the main focus, and mostly there is a western character that appears as the saviour. The African characters in most stories are reduced to stereotypes, unable to control their own narratives.

With the success of Black Panther (2018), acceptance of and interest in Afrocentric stories grew; however, even Wakanda was a fictitious nation that needed to be protected and hidden from the world. The current social justice movement is another factor that makes an African epic a very pertinent historical story to be told. We want to explore, anticipate, and introduce dynamic representations of African culture to the world. 

Kingdom Africa is our passionate and sincere contribution to African representation in media.

RISKS AND CHALLENGES

Pipeline: Making an animated film brings along the task of building and managing the animation pipeline. Animation is a powerful medium that takes thousands of frustrating and simultaneously rewarding hours. Often time it results in delayed workflow and strained resources. Our timeline may change over time and create excessive hours of crunch time. With additional funding, we can support our current up-and-coming artists to ensure a timely production!

Our goal of $20,000 is the bare minimum to help get most of our ideas completed. However, with your help in reaching each of our stretch goals, we can start programming and creating concept for our next chapters and stories!

PLANS FOR FUNDING

We plan on creating a short film as an introduction to our STORY TELLING. We call it our medium to captivate the audiences and take it to potential sponsors/investors and start a Kickstarter or a GoFundMe campaign.

We plan to repay your initial investment if we can get more through grants, online campaigns, or other means. As acknowledgment and gratitude for your support, we plan on giving you a percentage of any future financial gain our project gets. 

Stretch Goals

• Going International: We’d love to share our stories with the world! We have done plenty of online research to provide an accurate portrait of all the places in our stories. If we reach CAD 40,000, we'll be able to expand our research and development and travel to the actual sites and countries where our story develops.

• More Chapters: If we reach  CAD 55,000, we will start more chapters, introducing a new kingdom, new scenarios, new concepts and complex character development. 

​

• Video games: The original plan was to make this video games with every art concept, but the lack of human and financial resources led us to bring the stories to life only through Animation. If we reach CAD 65,000, we will create Game Chapters with the Animated Chapters.
